One of our chapter’s goals this semester was to get together with members outside of school and chapter meetings. To accomplish this goal, the executive board created chapter outings throughout the semester to bring members and board members closer together.
The first chapter outing was on November 3rd, at The Uncommons in Greenwich Village. The Uncommons is a game café, where customers can sit at tables, order food, and play different board games. Chapter Vice President, Ilana Maurer, reserved a table so there would be enough room for multiple members to come. The table was filled to its capacity, and we played games for the few hours we were there that night. It was a great place and outing for members to get to know each other and get to know board members.
Our next chapter outing was November 18th, at Gotham West Market. Before the outing, some of our members went to a PRSA event, where they got to network with industry professionals. After
the event, all of the members met up with each other at Gotham West Market where we were able to get food from vendors like Uma Temakeria and Ample Hills Creamery. This outing was right before Thanksgiving break, which gave members a chance to say goodbye to their friends before they left to go home to their families.
Our last chapter outing was a holiday party held at our President, Nicole Armeno’s apartment. Everyone who attended brought food, wore an ugly holiday sweater, and sat around talking, playing games, and getting into the holiday spirit. We wrote letters to soldiers wishing them a happy holiday and thanking them for their service.
All of our chapter outings were great ways for everyone to get to know each other. It provided a relaxing and fun environment and took pressure off of schoolwork. It was a great way to kick off the weekend or vacation and they will continue in the coming semester.
